Position Overview

The Finance Planning & Compliance Officer supports the CFO in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, financial analysis, and finance-related compliance activities. The role serves as a key individual contributor within the Finance team, responsible for converting financial and operational data into meaningful management information, maintaining planning and reporting processes, and ensuring that recurring finance-related compliance requirements are properly tracked, documented, and completed.
Key Responsibilities
Budgeting and Financial Planning
Support the CFO in the annual budgeting process; prepare and maintain budget templates, schedules, assumptions, and supporting models.
Coordinate and review budget submissions from department leaders for completeness, consistency, and reasonableness.
Maintain detailed schedules for headcount, payroll, operating expenses, and other key cost drivers.
Forecasting
Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts.
Analyze historical trends and current performance to improve forecast quality.
Highlight potential financial risks and opportunities to the CFO.
Management Reporting
Prepare recurring monthly management reporting packages, including budget-versus-actual and forecast-versus-actual reports.
Prepare variance analyses and identify key financial performance drivers.
Prepare financial and operational KPI dashboards.
Financial Analysis and Decision Support
Perform financial analysis requested by the CFO, including trend, variance, and cost-benefit analysis.
Support scenario analysis, financial modeling, and headcount/compensation analysis.
Finance Compliance
Maintain a centralized Finance compliance calendar, tracking recurring statutory, regulatory, tax, corporate, licensing, and insurance requirements.
Coordinate required documentation with internal stakeholders and external service providers; escalate potential delays to the CFO.
Process Improvement and Automation
Identify opportunities to improve budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and compliance processes.
Assist in automating financial reports and management dashboards.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Relevant experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, accounting, or financial analysis.
Strong understanding of financial statements and management accounting concepts.
Strong Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
Ability to develop and maintain financial models and reporting schedules.
Preferred
CPA, CMA, or similar professional qualification.
Experience in FP&A, management accounting, corporate finance, or financial reporting.
Experience supporting a professional services or legal-services organization.
Experience coordinating tax, regulatory, statutory, or corporate compliance requirements.
