Job Description:

Medical Billing Negotiation Manager

Position Overview

Farahi Law Firm is an award-winning personal injury firm dedicated to fighting for the injured and delivering exceptional legal representation. We are a fast-growing, client-centric team that values aggressive advocacy, innovation, and community impact. The Medical Billing Negotiation Manager leads the firm's medical billing negotiation team, owning both hands-on negotiation with healthcare providers and insurers and the day-to-day management of the negotiation team. This is a working-manager role: roughly 75% of time is spent on team leadership and management, and 25% on direct, hands-on negotiation work.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management (~75%)

  • Lead, coach, and manage the medical billing negotiation team (8 team members).

  • Distribute case load across the team and monitor team productivity using Filevine.

  • Support team development and performance management.

Negotiation & Case Work (~25%)

  • Negotiate Medical Bills: communicate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to negotiate medical expenses and reduce costs associated with client treatment.

  • Insurance Liaison: work with health insurance providers and verify policies, ensuring medical expenses are covered or reduced to a fair amount.

  • Financial Documentation: ensure all medical billing documents, insurance claims, and records are accurately documented, tracked, and organized in Filevine.

  • Customer Service: provide exceptional customer service by handling sensitive negotiations with professionalism, respect, and empathy.

  • Collaborate with Internal Teams: work with the health insurance liens team and other departments to streamline billing processes, provide case updates, and ensure medical expenses are handled promptly.

  • Coordinate with Finance on distributions, checks, and related payment processing — providing accurate information to support Finance's reconciliation and forecasting, without owning forecasting directly.

  • Process Improvement: continuously look for opportunities to streamline workflows and improve billing processes.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required

  • 4+ years of experience in medical billing negotiation, insurance claims, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of team-leadership experience.

  • Fluency in English and Spanish (bilingual required).

  • Working knowledge of Filevine.

  • Working knowledge of medical liens, Medicare, Medicaid, and ERISA.

  • Comfortable providing financial information to support Finance's reconciliation and forecasting (not required to forecast independently).

  • Willing to work onsite in Guadalajara and use Time Doctor to track work hours and performance.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (niche billing/negotiation experience weighted above the degree itself).
